Tea is one of my favorite drink and I prefer to drink green tea over coffee. Tea is a popular drink in many Asian countries but Japanese and Chinese are known for their amazing tea culture. This is also healthier than many other beverage options and safe to drink for most of the people.

But slowly tea has gained its popularity in American countries as well. Although black tea is the most popular; but green tea is reported to be growing at a much higher volume than black tea

This may be because of green tea’s potential role in weight loss. So, let’s talk about how you can drink green tea in a right manner for weight loss.

How green tea helps you lose weight.

Several studies have suggested that the flavonoids and caffeine in green tea can help elevate metabolic rate; increase fat oxidation and even improve insulin activity. Also, the catechins in green tea inhibit an important enzyme – catechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT) – that speeds up the metabolism, thereby stepping up the calorie burn. So green tea works in two ways for healthy weight loss.

You just need few cups of green tea to help you lose weight.

While weight loss benefits vary depending upon individual circumstances but 3-5 cups of green teas per day are considered to be optimal for weight loss.

What type of green tea should I drink?

There are many different types of green tea varieties available in the market. Because there can be a difference in the quality of tea leaves and the number of additional, unnecessary ingredients. Sometimes you will also find variants with other herbs of flavors, these unnecessary ingredients may overshadow the power of your green tea. To reap the maximum benefits of green tea; go for the one with all natural ingredients. The one which is best for weight loss is Matcha Green Tea—the richest green tea source of nutrients and antioxidants.

How should I brew green tea?

Take a little extra care while brewing green tea; as boiling water can destroy precious healthy chemicals( catechins) found in green tea.  Also, the tea will be too bitter and much of its delicate aroma will be lost, if you brew it at very higher temperature. Bring your water to a boil, but let it rest for about ten minutes (best temperature to brew green tea is between 140°F – 185°F). Then, pour the water over the tea and brew for about one minute before serving.
