Dragon fruit is a native to central and south America; Dragon fruit is cultivated in Hawaii and many parts of Asia. It has the similar texture as that of kiwi fruit. There are 3 varieties of dragon fruit one is pink dragon fruit with white flesh, another one is with pink flesh; there is also yellow pitaya with white flesh. Dragon fruit is rich in Vitamin C, iron,and protein. Each serving of Dragon fruit has an almost similar amount of vitamin C as that of an orange. Vitamin C naturally boosts body’s ability to get rid of toxins, heavy metals and strengthen’s the immune system. Dragon fruit is also a very strong laxative and helps in stimulating bowel movements.

The other ingredient of this gorgeous dragon fruit green smoothie is a banana. Banana improves nutritional value, texture, and taste of this smoothie. Banana, a widely available fruit; is low in saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium. Also, bananas are the good source of dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
I have used unsweetened almond milk but you can add any nut milk or coconut water as a base; for this healthy green smoothie recipe. Almond milk is a good source of minerals, flavonoids, antioxidants, proteins and vitamins so it’s a wise idea to include almond milk in moderation in your diet. You can always use store bought almond milk but homemade is best and very easy to prepare and also free from any additives.
