Have you ever thought of adding oatmeal to smoothies? I know many people thinks that it’s not an good idea to add raw oatmeal into smoothies. But I think it’s an good idea to add oatmeal to your smoothies as oatmeal adds thickness and nutrition. If you are skeptical about raw taste of oatmeal then you can easily avoid the raw taste by pre-soaking oatmeal for 15 mins in hot water. I generally soak my oatmeal in hot water first thing in the morning and oatmeal is ready by the time I am going to prepare my smoothie.
Oatmeal is a good replacement for protein powder too. I can’t use protein powder in my smoothies because my little one loves smoothies and I also give him smoothies as breakfast or snack. But if you want to add protein powder then simply replace oatmeal with protein powder.This smoothie is naturally sweetened by fresh blueberries and banana; but you can add any liquid sweetener of your choice if you like your smoothies sweeter.
- 2 cups blueberries ( fresh or frozen).
- 1 banana sliced.
- 2 cups milk (2% milk).
- 20-25 almonds (soaked overnight in water).
- ½ cup quick cooking oats ( soaked in 1 cup hot water for 15-20 mins).
- liquid sweetener ( according to taste).
- Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.
- Serve immediately.
