Smoothies are the best way to incorporate lots of vegetables and fruits in your diet. You can use fresh or frozen ingredients for making smoothies. I highly recommend using seasonal vegetables and fruits as they always taste better. But I like to use some ingredients which are nutritionally rich and are also available throughout the year. Beets are one of them; I like them as they give a very nice red-pink hue to smoothies and is very nutritious too.
Beet is an immune boosting root vegetable rich in Vitamin C, fiber, and essential minerals. The major health benefits of eating beetroot are:
- Lowering blood pressure.
- Boosting stamina.
- Detoxifying agent
- Rich in nutrients.
- Anti-cancer properties.
- Increase blood in the body.
- Reducing risk of birth defects.
Beets can be incorporated into the diet in many different ways like adding cooked or raw beets in salads, having beet juice or using beets for making smoothies etc.
The other ingredient used in this smoothie is apple. Apples are rich in antioxidants, dietary fiber, and flavonoids. Apples may also help reduce the risk of the various type of cancers, hypertension and heart disease. If you don’t like apples then you can replace it with pears.
- 1 apple(cored and sliced)
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk.
- 1 medium beet (peeled and sliced).
- 1 banana frozen.
- Add all the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth.
- Serve immediately.
